Have you ever had a friend call you and say, "Hey, I googled myself today and actually found me!" Cool, you think. You go to your computer and try to google your friend as well. Nothing comes up. You tell her. "Oh, well, you have to click "next" at the bottom of the page. Keep clicking that until you're on like, the forth-seventh page-do you see me yet?!" Of course, just keep clicking "next," why didn't you think of that?

You didn't think of it for the same reasons millions of other people searching the Internet don't think of it.
Since search engines are the first stop for people on the Internet looking for goods or services, the position your website appears in search results is an important factor. If your URL shows up far down the results list, the chances of the consumer never finding you increase incrementally. Once you achieve a high search engine position, it is essential that you make sure you maintain the high ranking you have worked so hard to achieve.
Search engines are the vehicles that drive potential customers to your websites. But in order for visitors to reach their destination - your website - you need to provide them with specific and effective signs that will direct them right to your site. You do this by creating carefully chosen keywords.

Think of the right keywords as the Open Sesame! of the Internet.
There is a right way and a wrong way to submit your website to search engines. Most people choose the wrong route and are penalized for it. In fact, one method I discuss in this article will have you indexed in Google within days.

If you have a web-based business or if a significant portion of your business is done on the web through your website, then the best advertising and marketing is done by submitting to a search engine.
